Theoxenia has remarkably blazed a trail to Portaria’s residents to get involved into touristic activity as well as to the village of Portaria to become acclaimed as a place of great beauty according to the royal charter in 1920 approximately.
Has  luxurious chambers, its impresive and innovative facilities included a lift, a landowing garden, tennis and cricket courts, hair salon for both men and women, ballrooms and a library.
The dinnerware was silver as well as the cutlery and the tea sets. The plates weren’t silver, but all especially made in the biggest factory in Bavaria, Germany. Some of them still survive in Portaria museum.
During the Second World War, with the arrival of the Germans in Portaria, Theoxenia was turned into their headquarters, while in 1944 it was burned to the ground by the now defeated Germans as an act of revenge.
In the last few years there have been various attempts to build it but unfortunately they were not completed, but we hope that will change in the near future.
